Welding & Inspection Technology-Engineer

Industrial Training Program in Welding and Inspection Technology (Engineer) is designed to give trainees an overview of the Welding Industry ecosystem and develop their technical & hands-on skills in Welding & Inspection domain.. This program enables the trainees to grasp the best engineering practices prevailing in the fabrication Industry and adequately equips them to combat real life challenges being faced by the welding and inspection engineers in Industries. An overview of Non-destructive and Destructive testing techniques is also given to enhance the Weld Inspection skills of the participants.

Course Outline

  • Safety in welding & cutting
  • Introduction to Arc Welding Process (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW), Gas / CNC Plasma Welding & Cutting
  • Welding power Source, Types of Welds & Joints, Weld Design and symbols
  • Selection of welding consumables, Shielding Gases, Storage& handling, Electrode Coatings & AWS designation
  • Modes of metal transfer, Welding parameters and their effect on bead profile
  • Distortion, Defects in Weldments – Cause & Remedies, Preheat, Interpass & PWHT
  • Basics of Welding Metallurgy
  • Construction codes & ASME Sec. IX, WPS & PQR, Role of welding Engineer
  • Practical session on welding with various electrode types, welding positions, joint types and their preparation techniques
  • Introduction to Non-Destructive Testing (VT, PT, UT, ET, MPT), Testing Equipment’s, Setup & Calibration, Testing Methods. Hands on session on each method using standard defect samples
  • Introduction to Robotic Welding

Key Take Aways

  • Able to prepare WPS / PQR as per the requirement of various welding codes and specifications
  • Perform Inspection of weldments using NDT & DT methods and prepare quality reports
  • Troubleshoot welding quality and productivity related problems
