DefExpo – 2020, an event of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, was held at Lucknow from 5th to 9th Feb 2020. The theme of the Expo was “India: The Emerging Defence Manufacturing Hub” and the focus was on “Digital transformation of Defence”.

The 11th edition of Defexpo was inaugurated by Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and was attended by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh along with Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath.

The event was followed by live demonstration of Naval Systems, Aero Systems and Land systems designed/built in India.

Delegates from 70 countries and 172 foreign military manufacturers attended the five day mega exhibition.

AKGEC Skills Foundation also participated in the Expo and presented the latest technologies like Industrial Robotics, Automation, Digital manufacturing, 3D Printing, Scanning & IOT. DefExpo provided an excellent opportunity to ASF to showcase the cutting-edge technologies that can help in achieving the digital transformation of Defence.

ASF Stall was visited by several professionals engaged in Defence production, procurement and service industries. The prominent ones were the visit of Chief of Defence Staff, India, General Bipin Rawat and Shri Vinay Mohan Srivastava, General Manager, Modern Coach factory (MCF) Indian railways.


AKGEC in its endeavour to promote skilling of industry professionals using its world class training and research infrastructure in Automation, Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing domain has recently joined hands with Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE) of Indian Railways located in Jamalpur, Bihar.

Under this initiative, AKGEC had organized “Training Program on Automation Technologies – 1” at Jamalpur Campus for 15 officers of Indian Railways from 10th of February 2020 to 14th of February 2020. Under this program, the participants were given opportunity to gain technical exposure and hands on working experience on Industrial Pneumatics and Hydraullics. The technical and hands-on sessions were conducted by Mr. D. K. Singh, Mr. Rahul Dixit, Mr. Mahesh Sharma of AKGEC Skills Foundation and Mr. Nitin Sapre, Adjunct Faculty-Ex Senior Trainer, Bosch Rexroth Group.


AKGEC in recognition of its excellence in promoting engineering education and imparting high end technical training programs conducted by ‘Center of Excellence’ in the field of Automation & Robotics, has been awarded as:

The award was given by All India Council for Robotics & Automation (AICRA) during ceremony held at “STEM Summit & Award-2020” at “NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi on 13th Feb 2020.

The AICRA STEM award is the most prestigious award that recognizes excellence in education and technology sector and aims at building the future excellence of Robotics Education and developing Eco-system for robotics technology by felicitating achievements of Indian educational institutions, individuals and service providers for improving the quality of Education delivery in India, through visionary thinking, process innovation and disruptive technology.

Several Academic Institutions, Research organizations, prestigious societies and Industries involved in Robotics field across the country participated in the event.

5th International Congress (IC-2020) on “Advanced Welding Technology & Quality Systems for Developing Economies” was organized during 6th -8th Feb’ 2020 at Mumbai by the International Institute of Welding and hosted by The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW India).It was attended by more than 350 national and International Delegates representing various Industries related to welding & allied fields, academic & research institutions and National / International welding Associations & Professional Bodies. Mr. Douglas Luciani, President, International Institute of Welding inaugurated the program. The Chief Guest was Shri P. Mahusudan, CMD, AP High Grade Steels Ltd, Vijaywada. To encourage young professionals to join the welding domain and promote skilling programs in welding, a separate session on Welding Skills wasconductedduring the congress.

Concurrently WELDINDIA 2020 – a three day exhibition held during 7th – 9th Feb 2020 at CIDCO Exhibition centre, Vashi, New Mumbai. More than 100 companies from Metallurgy, Material Testing & NDT, specially Welding, Fabricating & allied products industries showcased their latest development and professional branding in the Indian as well as international market, during WELDINDIA 2020.

AKGEC, Ghaziabad participated in the Congress as one of its sponsors and exhibited its training, research and consultancy facilities under AKGEC Skills Foundation in the WELD INDIA 2020 Exhibition.


A memorandum of Understanding was signed on 14th Nov’19 between AKGEC SKILLS FOUNDATION and BOSCH Automotive Ltd at BOSCH Head quarters at Bangalore

The primary purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to develop following facility at Campus at Ghaziabad (UP) under AKGEC Skills initiative:

  • Joint Certification Training Centre (JCC)
  • Express Bosch Car Service Workshop (EBCS)

The Indian Institute of Welding, National Skill Competition for Best of Best Welder (Northern Region) was organized at AKGEC Skills Foundation, Ghaziabad on 6th& 7th November 2019. The event was sponsored by M/s Voestalpine Bohler.

Total of 22 welders in four categories from reputed fabrication, welding, manufacturing companies such as Honda Cars (Tapukara plant), ISGEC Yamunanagar, DEE Piping System, Palwal, Youngmen India, Micro Precision Product Pvt. Ltd., etc participated in the competition.
